Carbon Footprint Comparisons

Why not eating meat will not save the planet.

Carbon footprint comparisons between animal and plant-based protein are meaningless.

Carbon footprint comparisons between animal protein and plant-based protein are meaningless because these calculators ignore the fact that the carbon emissions animal protein produce do not all cause an increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas whereas carbon emissions from plant protein production (which are mostly CO2), do so.

The carbon emissions produced by animals are not the same as and,
therefore, not comparable to carbon emissions produced by plant protein production.

Reducing your carbon footprint will only save the planet if the carbon
emissions you reduce are causing an increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas.

Eating less meat or dairy products will not save the planet because the carbon emissions attributed to these products are not causing an increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas.
