He Waka Eke Noa (HWEN) has presented its proposal to the Government. We await the details. From comments by Federated Farmers in the media it seems the partners in HWEN have reached agreement and either the Feds, who were the holdouts, have capitulated in a big way or they have achieved big changes to the scheme. The latter seems unlikely.

The week beginning 6 June, the Government will release the He Waka Eke Noa recommendations. Farmers are being sold a con. The industry has bowed to political pressure and unscientific ideology.

FARM has produced 10 questions. Please spread them far and wide. Send them to your MP or all MP’s. Send them to fellow farmers. Make it a campaign. Demand answers.

Even though the farming industry and the Government have now finally come on board with what we have been saying for years and have adopted a split gas approach to climate policy, it does not appear that the implications of what a split gas approach requires are fully understood.
